Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Mumbai Police arrested a 19-year-old resident of Telangana, identified as Ganesh Ramesh Vanpardh, for allegedly sending multiple email death threats to Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). These emails demanded a staggering ransom of Rs 400 crore, threatening serious consequences for non-compliance. Vanpardh had been sending threats to Ambani and his family over the past few months, intensifying their tone with each subsequent communication.
The accused was produced before the court and has been remanded in police custody until November 8.
The recent threats, traced back to a Belgian email service provider, were issued in the same vein as previous ones. Mumbai Police heightened security around Ambani's residence, Antilia, located on Altamount Road, in response to these menacing emails. The sender ominously declared, "Now the amount is 400 crore, and the police can't track and arrest me. No matter how good your security is, only one of our snipers can kill you."
As investigations proceed, authorities have reached out to the Belgian email service provider in hopes of obtaining information about the sender, adding a layer of international intrigue to the situation. These threats have arisen at a time of increasing concern over the security of one of India's most prominent business figures.
