Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated the interrogation of Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick on Tuesday afternoon, following his arrest in connection with the state's notorious ration distribution corruption case. After his release from a private hospital near EM Bypass at 9:58 pm on Monday night, ED officials took him into custody and transported him to the regional headquarters at the CGO Complex, where specialized facilities for prisoners are available.
Sources within the central agency have confirmed the preparation of a list of questions for Jyotipriya Mallick, aimed at uncovering his role in the alleged irregularities surrounding ration distribution. Bakibur Rahaman, who was previously arrested in the same case, has asserted that the illicit sale of ration in the market was orchestrated under Jyotipriya Malik's direction. Allegedly, Mallick established three companies from a sum of 12 crores, diverting the food security scheme ration provided by the Central government to the market, falsely claiming it as being distributed to non-existent beneficiaries.
It is worth noting that last Friday, Jyotipriya Mallick was apprehended by the ED after undergoing 21 hours of interrogation. The court had stipulated that his ten-day custody would commence upon his release from the hospital.
