SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
As the investigation into the ration distribution corruption case involving Bakibur Rehman unfolds, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has revealed the staggering extent of his amassed wealth, which is estimated to exceed Rs 100 crore, according to ED sources. The discovered assets encompass a wide array of properties, including multiple flats, hotels, bars, and rice mills, all held under the names of Bakibur and his relatives and associates.
Sources within the ED have disclosed that Bakibur's assets include a flat in the prestigious Park Street area and an additional eight to nine flats across various locations. Furthermore, Bakibur has substantial stakes in six different companies, amounting to more than Rs 50.5 crore, as revealed by the central agency.
Bakibur Rehman is currently in ED custody, and the agency's scrutiny of his amassed wealth and connections continues to shed light on the extent of influence and assets tied to the ongoing ration corruption case. On Thursday, during a recent medical examination at the hospital, Bakibur remained tight-lipped when questioned by the media about the ED's raid at Jyotipriya Mallik's residence.
