Police Memorial Day was solemnly observed to pay tribute to the indomitable courage and sacrifices of law enforcement and Central Armed Police Forces personnel who dedicated their lives to duty. Inspector General Surya Kant Sharma, of the North Bengal Frontier, Border Security Force (BSF), led the ceremony by laying wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial within the Kadamtala Complex, honoring the 188 police and brave Central Armed Police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the past year.
The event, attended by BSF officers and soldiers, included a poignant moment of two minutes of silence dedicated to the memory of these fallen heroes. Addressing the gathering, Inspector General Surya Kant Sharma expressed immense pride in the dedication and bravery of the border guards who selflessly protect the nation's borders, often leaving their families behind.
He emphasized that the youth of the country stand ready to make any sacrifice in service to the motherland, and their sacrifices will always be remembered and revered. Police Memorial Day, commemorated annually on October 21, serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by police and Central Armed Police personnel in the line of duty, reflecting their unwavering commitment to the nation's security.
