Kolkata Police's 'Pranam': Ensuring senior citizens Durga Puja delight!

In an effort to ensure the well-being and participation of elderly citizens living alone in Kolkata during the festive season of Durga Puja, the Kolkata Police has initiated a special program under the 'Pranam' campaign. Beginning immediately, the police have commenced the practice of taking elderly residents to the puja celebrations, offering assistance not only to seniors but also extending the service to specially abled individuals, visually impaired children, and those with osteogenesis imperfecta and cerebral palsy.

A dedicated vehicle service has been arranged to facilitate their visit to various puja pandals, starting from the Dharmatalla metro station.

The 'Pranam' program was initiated by Kolkata Police in response to the rising concerns of crimes against elderly citizens living alone in the city. This program involves creating a registry of elderly individuals living independently and providing them with support, comfort, and enhanced security measures. With the festive season of Durga Puja in full swing, the police's latest initiative aims to ensure that no one is left out of the celebrations, especially those who might face difficulties in participating independently.
