SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Village Resource Persons (VRPs) in West Bengal are seeking their pending salaries and bonus, highlighting their critical roles in tasks beyond their job descriptions. VRPs, who are responsible for various community-related duties, have also been actively involved in spreading awareness about vector-borne diseases like dengue and reporting such cases to the government. Despite their crucial contributions, these VRPs receive a nominal monthly payment of only Rs 5,250.
Unfortunately, many of them have not received any salary for the past three months, leaving them financially distressed due to the state government's financial woes.
In a plea addressed to key state government officials,Suvendu Adhikari has requested the Chief Secretary Hari Krishna Dwivedi (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department Manoj Pant (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary Dr. M.V.Rao (IAS), and Dr. P Ulaganathan (IAS), Secretary of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department to release the outstanding salary of VRPs, including the bonus, by 17th October, the last working day before the Puja holiday.
