The Meteorological Department has confirmed that South Bengal, including the metropolitan area of Kolkata, will remain rain-free until the end of this week. A statement issued by the department on Saturday revealed that while the sky may be lightly cloudy, there are no prospects of rain until Sunday night.
The region has experienced this dry spell for over a week, leading to a pervasive sense of humid heat among the populace.
According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Kolkata has been recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature soaring to 34 degrees Celsius, both exceeding the norm. Similar conditions are prevalent across other parts of the state, including Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura.
In North Bengal, encompassing Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong, the weather remains unaffected by rain, maintaining a normal pattern. However, the department anticipates the onset of rain next week, following which cooler weather is expected.
