Potato traders to go on strike if Bengal doesn’t allow selling to other states
Amidst social media accusations of unequal treatment in the distribution of Durga Puja bonuses to police volunteers in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has stepped in to clarify the situation. The allegations, which had gained traction online, suggested disparities in bonus payments between Civic Volunteers of the Kolkata Police and their counterparts in the West Bengal Police.
Banerjee swiftly addressed these claims, categorizing them as politically motivated attempts to stir controversy. She assured that all civic volunteers, regardless of their affiliation with the Kolkata Police or the West Bengal Police, would be awarded an identical Durga Puja bonus of Rs 5,300. With this clarification, the Chief Minister aims to quell any perceived discrimination and ensure that the civic volunteers, who play a vital role in maintaining law and order during the festive season, are treated equitably.
This decision by Mamata Banerjee to level the bonus playing field for both groups of police volunteers reflects her commitment to fairness and inclusivity, especially during a significant cultural and religious event like Durga Puja.
The move serves to address concerns within the police force and promote a sense of unity and shared purpose during the festive season. While allegations of discrimination had sparked controversy on social media, the Chief Minister's intervention has brought clarity and resolved the issue, emphasizing that civic volunteers' contributions are equally valued, irrespective of their unit affiliation.
