Asian Games 2023 update : Day 12

In a day of mixed fortunes for India at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the country celebrated a thrilling victory in the compound women's team archery final. The Indian trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand Swami, and Parneet Kaur clinched gold by a razor-thin margin of 230-229 against Chinese Taipei. However, the joy was short-lived as India's badminton star, PV Sindhu, suffered a disappointing exit from the women's singles quarterfinals, losing in straight games to China. 

In wrestling, Pooja Gehlot provided a glimmer of hope as she defeated Thailand's Esati Manlika in the women's freestyle 50kg pre-quarterfinals. On the other hand, Antim Panghal faced a setback, losing to Japan's Akari Fujinami in the women's freestyle 53kg quarterfinal. In the upcoming badminton events, HS Prannoy is set to compete in his singles quarterfinal, while the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will also be in action.

Additionally, India has high hopes in the racquet sports arena, with Saurav Ghosal vying for a gold in the men's singles squash final, and the duo of Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh aiming for victory in the mixed double squash finals. Meanwhile, the Indian women's hockey team is gearing up for a semifinal clash against hosts China, with high expectations of securing a place in the final.Despite the ups and downs, India continues to display its prowess and determination at the Asian Games, aiming to add more medals to its tally in the days ahead.
