In a tragic incident in Sikkim's Lachen Valley, a flash flood in the Teesta river has resulted in the disappearance of at least 23 army personnel, who were reported missing on Wednesday morning. The flash flood, which suddenly occurred, also submerged several Army vehicles parked at Bardang near Singtam. As the water level rose to a daunting 15-20 feet downstream, multiple buildings and structures in North Sikkim's Chungthang area were washed away.
The incident has prompted a swift response from the defense authorities, who have launched a search operation to locate the missing army personnel.
