An alarming incident of a motorcycle driver assaulting a passenger has come to light in the city, leading to a formal complaint lodged at the Madhyamgram police station. According to sources, the victim, identified as Abhijeet Maiti and a resident of Narayanpur Sardapalli, had booked an online app-based cab from the company "Moto" for his commute to work on a Thursday night.

However, the situation escalated when the driver suggested they go offline, a maneuver that would allow the driver to pocket more money. This proposal led to a heated argument between Abhijeet and the driver, but the issue appeared to have been resolved, leading Abhijeet to book another ride and continue on his journey towards Barrackpore.

Despite the apparent resolution, the situation took a horrifying turn as the previous motorcycle driverstarted following Abhijeet. The chase ultimately ended near Madhyamgram Bridge, where the driver forcibly halted Abhijeet's path. In a shocking act of violence, the driver allegedly launched an attack on Abhijeet, reportedly striking him on the head with a brick. The victim sustained severe injuries to his head, prompting local residents to intervene and save him from further harm.

Abhijeet Maiti was promptly rushed to Madhyamgram Hospital for medical attention, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.The local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, aiming to determine the circumstances that led to the violent altercation between the passenger and the motorcycle driver. The case highlights the importance of ensuring passenger safety during rides booked through online app-based cab services.

Police is currently gathering statements from witnesses and examining any available evidence to bring clarity to the matter and take appropriate legal action against those responsible for the assault.
