India celebrated a remarkable day at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou with a gold medal in the women's 25m pistol team event and a silver in the women's 50m rifle 3 position event. The trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan clinched the gold in the women's 25m pistol team event by defeating China by three points. India's shooters combined for a total score of 1759, while China settled for silver with 1756 points.
South Korea secured the bronze with a score of 1742. This achievement marked India's fourth gold at the Hangzhou games, bringing their total medal tally to 16.
Manu Bhaker led the way, topping the qualification with a total score of 590, while Esha Singh finished fifth with 586 points. Both Manu and Esha qualified for the individual finals as well. In the women's 50m rifle 3 position event, Indian shooters Ashi Chouksey, Manini Koushik, and Sift Kaur Samra secured the silver medal with a total qualification score of 1764.
China claimed the gold with an aggregate score of 1773, while South Korea took bronze with 1756 points. Sift Kaur Samra's performance stood out as she set a joint new Asian record for qualification with a score of 594.
