SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former president of the Wrestling Federation of India who faces allegations of sexual abuse, has shown confidence in his political career during a public event in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki. In a viral video, Singh responded to questions about his candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by rhetorically asking, "Who is going to cancel my ticket?" His statement has sparked controversy and criticism on social media, with many expressing outrage over his apparent arrogance while the investigation into the abuse allegations is ongoing.
Swati Maliwal, the chief of Delhi Women's Commission, shared the video and suggested that Singh's confidence might be fueled by a "larger support" system behind him, enabling him to display such arrogance of power. Singh held the position of WFI president from 2012 to 2023.

The Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on June 15, accusing him of offenses under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These charges stem from allegations of harassment and abuse by several women wrestlers, leading to a month-long protest against Singh, organized by prominent wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia.
