Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, has raised concerns regarding the alleged attack on the constitution stating that words 'socialist secular' were missing from new copies of the Constitution. These copies were distributed to politicians on the opening day of the new Parliament building on September 19.
Chowdhury expressed his apprehension, stating that the Preamble of the Constitution in the new copies lacks the crucial terms 'socialist secular,' which were added through an amendment in 1976. He emphasized that while they are aware of the historical amendment, the absence of these words in the copies distributed recently is a matter of concern.
During a session in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called for unity between 'India' and 'Bharat,' emphasizing that there is no distinction between the two as per the Constitution of India. He urged against creating unnecessary divisions between the two identities.
