Kolkata Police arrested Professor Rana Roy for allegedly sending threatening letters to the Registrar of Jadavpur University. This arrest comes following a complaint filed by a woman from Belgachia, who claimed that she had been subjected to harassment for the past four years, including receiving letters from Professor Roy along with condoms.
The incident stems from a threatening letter sent to Snehamanju Bose, the Registrar of Jadavpur University, which prompted the police to register a case. Just two days later, Professor Rana Roy was apprehended. Notably, this isn't the first time Professor Roy has faced such allegations. Prior complaints accuse him of sending letters containing condoms to neighbors. The police have filed complaints against him in connection with these previous incidents as well.
According to police reports, Rana Roy was arrested by a team of Kolkata Police from Hotel Sun City in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on the previous night. He has been taken into custody under the case registered at Tala police station. Professor Rana Roy currently serves as a professor at ABN Sheel College in Cooch Behar.
