Waterlogged roads in Kolkata, causing difficulties for students, office-goers, and residents

Incessant rains overnight have left many roads in Kolkata submerged, causing inconvenience to students, office-goers, and residents. Ward No. 87 of the Kolkata Corporation faced severe waterlogging issues, affecting the daily commute for many. However, municipal staff from the Kolkata Corporation's ward office worked diligently throughout the day to address the situation, including drainage arrangements.

The heavy rainfall also disrupted traffic flow in the city. Alipore recorded 29 mm of rain by 5.30 am on Monday, with predictions of ongoing light to moderate rain throughout the day. The Alipore Meteorological Department reported the formation of a new cyclone in the Bay of North East Bengal, which has been causing rainfall in South Bengal, including Kolkata. This cyclone is steadily gaining strength and could evolve into a low-pressure area, potentially leading to heavy rain later this week.
