The Indian National Developmental Alliance of Opposition Parties, I.N.D.I.A., held its third meeting in Mumbai, marking a crucial step in the opposition's preparations for the upcoming elections. During the gathering, the alliance revealed plans to establish a 13-member coordination committee, with the possibility of including a member from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI(M), making it a 14-member committee.
INDIA bloc's 14-member coordination panel includes the following: Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, RJD leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, AAP MP Raghav Chadha, DMK leader TR Baalu, Javed Khan from Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal United national president Lalan Singh, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, CPI leader D Raja, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti. A member from CPI(M) is to be announced.
Following the meeting, a press conference was convened at 3:30 pm, where information about three key resolutions was shared. These resolutions encompassed organizing rallies across the country, the formation of the coordination committee, and the adoption of the campaign theme, 'Judega Bharat, Jeetega India' (United India Will Win). Notably, Trinamool General Secretary MP Abhishek Banerjee's name was confirmed as a member of the Coordination Committee.
As the opposition gears up for the 2024 elections, the formation of the coordination committee is seen as a pivotal move to streamline efforts and foster unity among diverse political parties within the I.N.D.I.A. alliance.
