The Bidhannagar South Police Station has apprehended Surjit Roy, a resident of Salt Lake, on charges of engaging in fraudulent activities related to business transactions in the Salt Lake area. The accused, Surjit Roy, is accused of cheating a Bowbazar businessman named Dinesh Agarwal out of a substantial sum of money, totaling Rs 34 lakh, by falsely promising business opportunities within the Salt Lake neighborhood. Roy is scheduled to be presented in the Bidhannagar court to face charges today.
Police sources reveal that the fraudulent activity took place in a systematic manner, with the accused coaxing the victim, Dinesh Agarwal, into parting with a significant sum of money, amounting to Rs 34 lakh, under the pretense of facilitating business endeavors associated with house number 75 in the Salt Lake HA block. Despite the passage of a considerable period of time, Agarwal failed to locate the promised business establishment. Subsequently, Agarwal lodged a formal complaint with the Bidhannagar South Police Station, which triggered an investigation into the matter.
Upon conducting a thorough inquiry into the case, the police managed to apprehend the accused, Surjit Roy, who is identified as the owner of the flat in Salt Lake HF Block. It is reported that Roy was taken into custody after the investigation revealed his alleged involvement in the fraudulent scheme. The police intend to present Surjit Roy in the Bidhannagar court today, following the completion of the necessary formalities.
