Humayun Kabir who hailed Abhishek and criticized Firhad, apologises after CM Mamata’s reprimand
The second phase of the Vidhansabha Monsoon session started with a tumultuous uproar as the student murder case from Jadavpur University took center stage, prompting the BJP to stage a walkout from the House.
Shubhendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition from the BJP, demanded clarity on the progress of the Jadavpur incident from the Education Minister. Seeking an adjournment motion in the Vidhan Sabha, Adhikari expressed concern over the university's environment and the role of left-wing organizations. He emphasized the need for an NIA investigation into the matter, branding Jadavpur as a breeding ground for anti-national forces.
In response, the State Education Minister, Bratya Basu, highlighted the formation of a Fact Finding Committee but raised concerns about the influence of Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose in university affairs. Accusations were exchanged about arbitrary appointments.
The BJP members raised their voices, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Bratya Basu. Agnimitra Paul, a prominent BJP figure, pointed fingers at the state government's negligence in the Jadavpur incident and accused it of shifting blame to the governor. Amidst the growing tension, the BJP MLAs dramatically walked out of the assembly, leaving an atmosphere of chaos and unrest.
