New orders for illegal construction on Government land in Bengal
As the Congress party commemorated the anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, it announced the latest lineup of its influential decision-making body. Notably, Sachin Pilot, a prominent leader from Rajasthan, has secured a position in the Congress Working Committee (CWC), marking his return ahead of the state's upcoming assembly elections later this year.
The fresh additions to the CWC also include Shashi Tharoor, Deepa Das Munshi, and Syed Nasser Hussain. Sachin Pilot is reportedly being considered to take charge of a significant state, a move that signifies his growing influence within the party.
Shashi Tharoor, known for his active involvement in party affairs, has also secured a place in the committee, despite his contest against Mallikarjun Kharge in the previous Congress President poll.
Among the 39 CWC members, only three are under the age of 50 – Sachin Pilot, Gourav Gogoi, and Kamaleshwar Patel, reflecting a blend of experience and youthful representation.
In a significant development, it's reported that Priyanka Gandhi, who was previously overseeing party activities in Uttar Pradesh, is unlikely to be designated in charge of any specific state in this reshuffle, according to sources.
