Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition, has lodged a formal FIR with the Jadavpur police station regarding the attack he experienced while returning from a Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha meeting near Jadavpur University on Thursday. In the FIR filed on Friday, Adhikari has alleged an attempt to murder.
He has accused members of the Revolutionary Students Federation (RSF), a left-wing student organization, for the attack, claiming that it is a banned Maoist group. The incident unfolded on Thursday evening after Adhikari attended a Yuva Morcha event near the 8B bus stand. A confrontation erupted between BJP and RSF workers during his return, resulting in one person sustaining head injuries. While two individuals were initially apprehended by the police, they were later released.
Adhikari alleges that the attack was premeditated and orchestrated around 5:40 pm as he was descending from the stage, asserting that the assailants were armed with firearms and had an intent to assassinate him.
