As the nation gears up to commemorate its 76th anniversary of independence on Tuesday, preparations are in full swing on Kolkata's Red Road. The area's security will be comprehensive, encompassing ground to sky, with a three-tiered police presence. A parade involving police personnel and school students is scheduled on the city's Rajpath, showcasing diverse aspects from Kanyashree Yojana to Durga Puja. 2000 police personnel will be deployed only on Red Road.
In the lead-up to Independence Day, heightened security measures have been initiated in the city and its major landmarks, including a naka checking drive by Belur GRP at the Belur station. Extensive screenings of people with metal detectors are being carried out at various locations like Belur, Bally, Liluah, and Dakshineswar. This step aims to ensure that passengers are not carrying any potentially dangerous items, explosives, inflammable substances, or weapons. Additionally, thorough searches of station premises are being conducted.
