SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
After a relatively dry July, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains in Bengal and various areas of northern and eastern India in the month of August. The monsoon axis has shifted to areas like Hardoi, Bathinda, Mizoram, and North East Madhya Pradesh, with predictions of rain until August 10.
From August 6 to August 9, the Meteorological Department has cautioned about heavy rain and lightning in several regions of Bihar and Bengal. In Kolkata, the day began with cloudy skies, and as it progressed, intermittent light to heavy rain was observed. Surrounding areas experienced a similar weather pattern on Sunday.
The meteorological office highlights that the monsoon axis's northward movement will lead to intensified rains over North Bengal, with several northern districts expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. For Monday-Tuesday, isolated heavy rain is anticipated over South Bengal, specifically in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, and Nadia.
Additionally, Birbhum and Murshidabad are also expected to receive heavy rains in the coming days. Residents in these districts are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on weather warnings to mitigate potential risks and disruptions caused by the anticipated heavy downpours.
