Director Rakesh Roshan delays filming of Krrish 4 amid audience reluctance to return to theatres

Rakesh Roshan, the director of the highly anticipated superhero film Krrish 4, has recently voiced reservations about commencing filming soon. In an interview, he expressed concerns about the audience's hesitancy to return to theatres, which has prompted him to postpone the project for the time being. The film, starring Hrithik Roshan, marks the fourth installment of the popular Krrish franchise that has garnered a massive fan following over the years.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Krrish 4 for nearly a decade, with the previous three films, Koi Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006), and Krrish 3 (2013) proving to be major successes. Earlier this year, Hrithik Roshan assured fans that Krrish 4 was indeed in the pipeline and would happen "real soon." However, Rakesh Roshan, the visionary filmmaker, has opted to delay the project by another year.

In his interview, Rakesh Roshan candidly shared his concerns about the current scenario in the film industry, where the audience's return to theatres has been sluggish. With superhero blockbusters from Hollywood boasting budgets of $500-600 million, the Indian film industry faces the challenge of delivering high-quality action and VFX within relatively smaller budgets, ranging from 200-300 crore.

Rakesh Roshan emphasized the importance of maintaining high production quality despite budget constraints. While the team behind Krrish 4 is ready to move forward with the film, the prevailing circumstances of lackluster box office performances and inadequate collections have compelled the director to exercise caution. The aim is to ensure that Krrish 4 lives up to its potential and meets the expectations of the audience.

Originally announced in 2018 with a slated release date of Christmas 2020, Krrish 4 has faced several postponements since then. The film revolves around Krishna, the son of Rohit, who inherits his father's superhuman abilities and embarks on thrilling adventures to protect the world from evildoers.
