Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
On Sunday, members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) [CPI(ML)] and tribal organizations staged a protest against the Manipur incident, burning effigies of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Manipur in front of Bhurkunda Janata Talkies. The demonstrators vehemently demanded the immediate dismissal of the Manipur government in response to the recent incident that has sparked outrage.
Presided over by Naresh Badaik, secretary of the CPI(ML), the protest saw a fervent demand for stringent action against the culprits involved in the incident. Badaik called for the culprits to be brought to justice swiftly through a trial in the fast-track court and to receive the death sentence for their heinous acts.
Before burning the effigy, protesters took part in a protest march from Matkama Chowk to Janta Talkies to voice their concerns over the incident involving tribal women in Manipur. Angry tribal women expressed their anguish, considering the incident as a shameful attack on humanity. They called for immediate action by the government to address such atrocities against women and put an end to such heinous acts.
Other participants in the protest echoed the sentiments of the tribal women and emphasized the urgent need to stop crimes and atrocities against tribals, Dalits, and women in various states. The demonstration marked a collective outcry against the rising incidents of violence and injustice against marginalized communities.
The Manipur incident has ignited public outrage and raised serious questions about the safety and security of women in the region.
