Allu Arjun arrested days after woman died in Pushpa 2 premiere stampede
In a recent incident in Kaliachak, Malda district of West Bengal, the West Bengal Police barricaded a Durga temple during the Muharram Tazia procession, causing controversy and raising concerns about religious freedom and communal harmony.
The temple was completely surrounded by barricades, restricting access for Hindu worshippers and preventing them from conducting their regular prayers.
The BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition, shared a picture of the temple on Twitter and questioned the police's actions. He asserted that there was no demand from any Muharram organizing committee for such a barricading measure, and this decision by the West Bengal Police appeared to be an unnecessary and insensitive act.
Amit Malviya, the chief of BJP's IT cell, also expressed outrage on Twitter, accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of promoting a form of secularism that allegedly disregards the sentiments of Hindus. He criticized the administration for treating Hindus as second-class citizens and failing to uphold law and order impartially.
The BJP leaders have accused Mamata Banerjee of indulging in petty politics and creating divisions between communities for electoral gains. They argued that such actions undermine social cohesion and weaken the bond between various religious groups in the state.
