Pakistan reacted strongly to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's remark that India could cross the Line of Control (LoC) if necessary. Singh said this on the occasion of 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas in Drass, Ladakh.
"We advise India to exercise utmost caution as its aggressive rhetoric threatens peace and stability in the region and contributes to the destabilization of the strategic environment in South Asia," Pakistan's foreign ministry said in a statement.
Indian forces fought Pakistani invaders as well as army personnel during the 1999 Kargil War and drove them out of positions occupied by them.
Warning Pakistan, Rajnath Singh said that the war is not just between two armies but also between two nations. "Even after winning the war on July 26, 1999, if our forces have not crossed a reasonable limit, it is only because we are a peaceful nation, we believe in Indian values and we are committed to international law."
“This is not the first time that Indian political leaders and senior military officers have made highly irresponsible remarks about Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. This kind of fictitious statement must stop. The Indian leadership is reminded that Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself against any aggression,” Mofa further said in the statement.
Pakistan claims that Pakistan is being dragged into Indian public discourse to gain electoral advantage.
