Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
After leading her party to a stunning victory in Karnataka, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is targeting Madhya Pradesh as her next stop. After starting her campaign in the state in June this year, she returned to address a rally in the key Gwalior-Chambal region today.
Gandhi, while launching her party's election campaign in June, promised five guarantees to the people of the state. These guarantees included providing an amount of Rs 1,500 to every woman in the state, offering LPG cylinders at Rs 500 to every household, providing 100 units of electricity for free, and another 200 units at half price.
She also pledged to introduce a waiver of the obligation to obtain an agricultural loan and restore the old pension system.
In an attempt to strike the right chord with voters, Gandhi further claimed that he would not lie while standing on the banks of the Narmada River.
Interestingly, the Congress Party's five promises in Karnataka were said to be a major factor in the party's rise to power in the state.
Priyanka Gandhi's Gwalior speech comes just two days after the Congress party launched the Gruhalakshmi scheme in Karnataka. She is said to have played a key role in bringing this plan to Madhya Pradesh.
