Union Cabinet approves 'One Nation, One Election' Bill: Reports
The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed along the border with Nadia district has recovered 7.5 lakh Bangladeshi currency.
Smugglers were trying to smuggle it from India to Bangladesh. In a statement issued by the BSF on Thursday afternoon, it has been told that on the basis of intelligence information near the border outpost Matiyari, the BSF jawans had started ambushing on Wednesday night.
At that time some smugglers were seen going towards the Bangladesh border from the Indian border. An attempt was made to surround them, but seeing the jawans coming towards them, the smugglers escaped by taking advantage of the thick bushes and dense darkness.
A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of four bundles of Bangladeshi currency amounting to Tk 7.5 lakh.
It has been handed over to the Customs Department, Banpur.
