PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth aim for first title of the season at Korea Open

PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth are preparing to kick-start their quest for their first title of the season at the Korea Open in Yeosu

Sindhu, a double Olympic medalist, is coming off a quarterfinal finish at the US Open and will face Chinese Taipei's Pai Yu Po in her opening match. With the Paris Olympics qualification window open, Sindhu is eager to regain her best form and consistency.

Despite reaching the final of the Madrid Spain Masters, Sindhu has been unable to secure a title this year, and she aims to change that as the season progresses.Sindhu holds a 4-1 advantage in head-to-head matchups against Pai Yu Po and is expected to begin her campaign on a positive note.

Meanwhile, Malvika Bansod will also be competing, facing fourth seed Tai Tzu Ying in the first round. The two have never played against each other, but the higher-ranked Tai is anticipated to have the upper hand against the 45th-ranked Indian shuttler, who has faced her as a tough opponent in the past.

In the men's singles category, fifth-seeded HS Prannoy, who recently reached the quarterfinals at the Taipei Open and won the Malaysia Masters in May, will start against compatriot Sameer Verma. Kidambi Srikanth, who last participated in the Indonesia Open, will commence his campaign against former world champion Kento Momota. While Momota holds a commanding 14-3 lead in their head-to-head record, Srikanth aims to seize the opportunity to improve his performance against the Japanese player, who has faced setbacks due to a previous accident.

Lakshya Sen, following a semifinal finish in the US Open and a title victory in the Canada Open, will seek redemption against Denmark's Anders Antonsen, who defeated him earlier this year at the All England tournament. The men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, ranked third, return to the tour after a break and will face the Thai duo of Supak Jomkoh and Kittinupong Kedren in their opening match. Another men's doubles duo, Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala, will begin their campaign against the fifth-seeded pair of Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi.

In women's doubles, Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will face the seventh-seeded duo of Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota in their first-round match.
