Kalighat Kaku, also known as Sujay Krishna Bhadra, a controversial figure in the education sector of West Bengal, has been sent back to Presidency Jail after his parole came to an end. Kaku had been granted a 15-day parole following the sudden demise of his wife.
Upon the expiration of his parole, Kaku reported back to the jail on Monday. However, shortly after his arrival, he complained of chest pain, leading to a medical examination by the prison physicians. Following their recommendation, Kaku has now been admitted to the SSKM Hospital for further treatment.
Kaku, who had been associated with Abhishek Banerjee's organization, has faced serious allegations of involvement in a large-scale scam. It is alleged that he embezzled crores of rupees through various government appointments across the state, extending beyond the teaching profession. The funds are believed to have reached influential individuals within the corridors of power. As a result, Kaku has been arrested by the Central Agency ED in connection with this case.
