Tomato Prices Skyrocket as Thieves target farms: 26 kg of tomatoes and 25 kg of green chillies stolen from shop

Tomatoes are more expensive in the country than apples, oranges, grapes, and mangoes. The tomato rate has crossed Rs 200 per kg in almost all states including the capital Delhi. In Chandigarh, people have to spend Rs 350 for one kg of tomatoes.

In such a situation, a box of happiness opened for tomato farmers. Farmers earn thousands of rupees by selling tomatoes. But along with that came more problems ahead of them. Thieves have now started stealing tomatoes from the farm instead of bikes and expensive cars. In such a situation, farmers have to stay up all night to guard the fields.

He said that at present tomatoes are being sold at Rs 160 per kg and green chillies at Rs 200 per kg in the market. Because of this, he suffered a loss of thousands of rupees.
