A gang of armed criminals barged into a house and shot at a youth in Railway Transit Colony near Lal Building Chowk under Bagbera thana area after midnight.
While the gun attack took place, the victim identified as Kundan Singh was in deep sleep.
The attackers, who numbered about eight, pumped three shots into the victim while he slept.
Immediately after the criminals left the spot, nervous family members rushed Kundan to the Tata Main Hospital where he is fighting for his life.
According to sources, one of the attackers was identified as Ramesh Singh, who had an old enmity with the shot victim.
Sources said that Kundan Singh always has a dubious past and was jailed a year ago.
The police went to the place immediately after receiving the information and are now trying to track down the attackers.
