BJP worker killed in election violence, death toll rises to 50 in WB

A Bharatiya Janata Party candidate who was a victim of election violence in Bishnupur in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal has died.

It is called Bholanath Mandal. Bholanath breathed his last on Friday at Diamond Harbor Hospital.

He was allegedly brutally assaulted by people from the ruling Trinamool Congress party on election day, after which he was treated in a hospital.

Vishnupur was a BJP candidate from seat number 109 of Darikavdanga Gram Panchayat of block number one. When the results came out, he was found to have lost.

After that, he could not even meet his family members due to fear. He received intermittent treatment for his injuries in the attack, but on Friday, when his health deteriorated, he was taken to Diamond Harbor Hospital,

where he died during treatment. With Bholanath's death, the death toll in the case has risen to 50.
