Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor VK Saxena, who recently engaged in verbal sparring, came together to brief the media on the current situation while saying, "We have to work as a team" as the capital's ongoing flood problems Earth.
CM Kejriwal, Ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, and L-G Saxena on Friday inspected the flooded section near Vikas Bhawan, ITO, where the drain regulator was damaged.
The L-G was responding to Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj who said that despite repeated requests to the officers last night, the NDRF team reached the spot only on Friday.
"Thank you, the situation would have been better if the NDRF had reached the place alone last night," Bharadwaj said.
L-G Saxena said, “I would like to tell you that now is not the time to report blame or point fingers at each other. Right now we have to work as a team. I can say a lot of things too, but this is not what we should be doing at this time."
Addressing a joint press conference, CM Kejriwal said that those who have been dealing with flood issues for the past few days will soon experience some relief as the rising waters of the Yamuna are receding slowly but surely.
“…water flooded different areas for many reasons. Here the flood occurred due to a breach (of the drain regulator), while at Raj Ghat it was due to a backflow of water from the drain. Several other places were inundated by the backflow of the waters of the Yamuna. However, people will heave a sigh of relief once the waters of the Yamuna start receding,” the CM said.
