A case has been registered against Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for allegedly sharing a tweet about former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief MS Golwalkar, which allegedly contained several controversial comments by the RSS leader, who is known as 'Guruji' among his admirers.
Accusing Congress leaders of sharing fake posts on Gowalkar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Digvijaya Singh was spreading "misinformation" fueling social hatred through a tweet.
The CM also claimed that the former RSS chief worked throughout his life to eliminate social differences and build a harmonious society.
The Madhya Pradesh Congress president rejected the allegations and said that Singh had shared these facts based on a book. He also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cannot suppress the voice of the Congress.
The Congress leader took to Twitter on Saturday to share an image of a page containing several controversial comments made by Gowalkar. Gowalkar reportedly said that he would rather live under the British regime than get equal rights for Dalits, backward, and Muslims.
After the incident, senior RSS leader Sunil Ambedkar accused Singh of posting a "photoshopped" picture of Gowalkar.
On the complaint of RSS worker Rajesh Joshi and a lawyer, an FIR was lodged against Singh and a case was registered under sections 153-A, 164, 500, 469, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
