Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
A section of tribals today staged a demonstration in front of the BJP state headquarters in Harm to protest against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the incident of urinating on tribal youth by BJP supporters in MP.
They assembled at Harmu ground and marched to the BJP state headquarters before staging a demonstration.
They raised slogans like 'Babulal Istifa Do', 'Adivasiyon Ka Shoshan Band Karo', and 'Modi Teri Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi'.
Tribal leader Prem Shahi Munda said, “Uniform Civil Code will not work in the country as tribal society has its own constitutional right. There is a usual tradition. The CNT Act and the SPT Act apply in the state. By the introduction of these laws, all these laws will become void.”
Sarna Central Committee president Ajay Tirkey said, “In Madhya Pradesh, a BJP supporter urinated on tribal youth. This act hurt the tribal sentiments. With the support of the BJP government, crimes are being committed against children in tribal society every day.”
Lakshmi Narayan Munda said that the real face of the BJP came to the fore with the incident of bedwetting at a tribal in Madhya Pradesh.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the protest. The BJP office was converted into a police tent before the procession arrived.
