Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty mourns the loss of his mother

Shantirani Chakraborty, the mother of renowned Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithun Chakraborty, passed away on Friday in Mumbai.

She had been battling age-related ailments and breathed her last surrounded by her loved ones. This unfortunate event comes three years after the demise of Mithun Chakraborty's father, Basant Kumar Chakraborty, who succumbed to kidney failure in April 2020 at the age of 95.

Shantirani Chakraborty had been residing in Mumbai with her son Mithun Chakraborty at the time of her passing. News of her demise has brought forth an outpouring of grief from political leaders, including those from the Bengal BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), as well as celebrities from the film industry.

Mithun Chakraborty, who was born in Kolkata, had once lived with his parents and four siblings in the Jorabagan area of the city. As Mithun gained fame in the acting world, he relocated to Mumbai, taking his parents along with him. His mother had been residing in Mumbai ever since.

The Bengal BJP expressed their condolences over the loss of Mithun Chakraborty's mother. In a statement, they conveyed their deep sorrow and shock at the news, assuring Mithun Chakraborty of the party's unwavering support during this difficult time. Similarly, Kunal Ghosh, a spokesperson for the TMC, set aside political differences and expressed his grief over the actor's personal loss.

Just a few days prior to his mother's demise, Mithun Chakraborty was seen paying tribute to his late father on the sets of the reality show 'Dance Bangla Dance.' The actor took a moment to reminisce about his father during this solemn occasion.
