A fire at a mobile shop in the city gutted mobile phones and accessories worth Rs 25 crore early this morning. The fire was spotted at 5am, after which firefighters were alerted and took more than three hours to extinguish the flames.
Shop owner Shahid Akhtar said he got information about the fire from people living around Sujayat Chowk, where the shop is located.
According to him, the firemen got there immediately and brought the fire under control by 8:30 in the morning. He said the cause of the fire was not yet known, but police suspected a short circuit as a possible cause of the fire.
According to Shahid, mobile phones of several companies, other accessories and tempered glass were gutted. “I have suffered a huge loss which is between Rs 20 to 25 million,” he said.
