Two youths riding a bike were swept away in Usri river in Barganda under Sadar police station in Giridih district on Sunday evening.
One of them managed to swim to a corner, while the other two were swept away by the swift current of the river.
One body was recovered and another is still missing. Sadar police officer-in-charge RN Choudhary told the media that the incident took place around 12:00 noon. The three identified as Shankar, Manish and Anand were going to Hazaribagh from Bengabad (Giridih) on one bike.
Their bike slipped in the river while they were crossing a temporary wooden bridge built on the Usri River in Barganda. Water was flowing over the makeshift wooden bridge and they couldn't control the bike. As they fell into the river, Shankar managed to swim safely to a corner while Manish and Anand were swept away by the current.
As the Usri River Bridge in Barganda is under construction, a temporary wooden bridge has been made to cross the river. The trio of riders preferred to cross the makeshift bridge.
Anand's body was found under the Argha Ghat bridge this morning, while the search for Manish Kumar is still on. Sadar police station pressed the divers of Khandoli dam in search of Manish.
