In a tragic incident, the lifeless body of Kalavati Devi was discovered hanging from a noose in Hesalong village of Barwatoli panchayat under Chandwa police station. The incident occurred late on Saturday night, leaving the community in shock.
Kalavati Devi, the wife of Dheeraj Munda, was identified as the victim. Notably, her husband is currently serving time in jail for his alleged involvement in a murder case connected to the accusation of witchcraft against Ojha Guni in Hesla village of Ladhup panchayat.
Following the discovery, the police promptly sent the deceased's body to Latehar Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. At present, authorities are actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances surrounding Kalavati Devi's untimely demise.
The incident has generated widespread concern within the community, as it highlights the persisting issue of violence and superstitions related to witchcraft. The tragic loss of a life once again calls for increased efforts to raise awareness, promote education, and eradicate such regressive beliefs from society.
Police are investigating the case.
