Kolkata metro to be extended till Hooghly's Chuchura? Here's what Railway minister says
Amid heightened security concerns, Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has made the decision to cancel the first batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, which included 3,500 devotees of Lord Shiva. This step has been taken to ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims.
The Amarnath Yatra is a 62-day pilgrimage that is scheduled to begin on July 1st. It consists of two main routes: the Nunwan-Pahalgam route, spanning 48 kilometers in the Anantnag district, and the Baltal route, spanning 14 kilometers in the Ganderbal district. Both routes are significant for the pilgrimage and will be closely monitored and guarded.
In order to maintain a high level of security, various measures have been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. This includes the deployment of 60,000 paramilitary personnel across the Union Territory. National highways are being guarded by police using drones for surveillance. The Bhagwati Nagar base camp and buses transporting pilgrims to Pahalgam and Baltal are being protected by CRPF troops. Additionally, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel are maintaining a strong presence in the area.
Ahead of the pilgrimage, J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has taken the responsibility of reviewing the security preparedness and other necessary arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra. This includes conducting an inventory of common control rooms, Langar stalls (food distribution centers), power and water supply facilities, and medical services. The overall aim is to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for the devotees participating in the pilgrimage.
Overall, the cancellation of the first batch of pilgrims and the stringent security measures demonstrate the commitment of the authorities to prioritize the safety of the pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra.
