A couple was booked for allegedly assaulting a roommate in a residential society in Ghaziabad following an argument over a dog. According to the woman's complaint to the local police, the incident happened on June 26 when one of her pet dogs got off its leash.
The complainant, Natasha Satija, a resident of Wave Executive Floors, said she was leaving the company with her two pets and sister when one of the dogs managed to break free and run away. That's when a family of three - Pinky Singh, her husband and their child - started scolding them for letting their dog roam freely in society.
“We recently moved into society and our dogs are not familiar with their surroundings, so they panicked. And one of them got free,” Satija said.
Satija claimed that the couple assaulted her despite her apology to her family. Satija said, “I assured them that the dogs would not harm them. But the woman kept insulting me. She also slapped me. Her husband also joined in and hit me with his shoes. The couple even hit my sister who tried to calm the situation", added Satija. The couple also made threats when the woman warned them to call the police, as informed.
The woman urged the police to scan the company's CCTV footage and carry out a medical examination to confirm the physical assault. Police have charged the accused under Sections 323 (assault), 504 (intentional assault) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
ACP wave City, Ravi Prakash said that the police is conducting an investigation and accordingly action will be taken against the culprits.
