SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Incessant heavy rains across South Bengal, including the capital city of Kolkata, have led to a significant decrease in temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature dropping to just 28.3 degrees Celsius, five degrees below the normal range. The cooler weather has also brought a slight chill during the nights.
Over the past 24 hours, Kolkata received 15.2 mm of rainfall. Areas such as Barabazar, Khidirpur, Dumdum, Kakurgachi, and Central Avenue in Kolkata have experienced waterlogging. Other regions of West Bengal, including Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura, have also witnessed rainfall, resulting in waterlogging in several areas. The cloudy sky indicates that intermittent rain is expected to continue throughout the day.
Notably, West Bengal has been experiencing sporadic rainfall for the past 15 days, leading to a drop in temperature and providing respite from the scorching heat that had prevailed earlier.
