Veteran actor Dharmendra took to social media to express regret for not personally inviting his wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Deol, to the wedding of his grandson, Karan Deol.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Dharmendra attributed his oversight to his age and health condition.
Dharmendra shared an old picture of himself with his eldest daughter, Esha, and addressed a note to his daughters, sons-in-law, and Hema. He expressed his love and respect for them but mentioned that his age and illness prevented him from speaking to them personally about the wedding.
While Dharmendra was married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur, he has sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, as well as daughters Ajieta and Vijeta, with her. With his second wife, Hema Malini, he has daughters Esha and Ahana. Karan Deol, Sunny's eldest son, recently tied the knot with Drisha Acharya, and while the Deol family attended the ceremonies, Hema and her daughters were absent.
Esha did, however, extend her wishes to the newly married couple through a social media post. Karan responded with gratitude for her message. Dharmendra, who married Prakash Kaur in 1953 before his Bollywood debut, later married Hema Malini in 1980. The iconic duo appeared together in several films throughout their careers.
In terms of upcoming projects, Dharmendra will be seen in director Karan Johar's film "Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, slated for release on July 28, 2023. He is also part of an untitled romantic film starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
