Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the film Adipurush, stating that it is a sin to hurt people's sentiments and shake their faith.
Agnihotri emphasized the importance of being sensitive and responsible when dealing with matters of faith and belief. He stressed that logic fails in such situations and attempting to undermine people's faith is a sinful act. The film's makers had revised some dialogues following online outrage and negative reviews.
When questioned about the role of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in the matter, Agnihotri, who is a part of the CBFC board, stated that he had not watched the film and was not aware of the details regarding its certification process. He refrained from commenting on other films, emphasizing that matters of belief are highly sensitive.
Meanwhile, Agnihotri is gearing up for the release of his upcoming project, The Vaccine War, which explores the work of Indian bio-scientists and their indigenous vaccines. The film stars Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, and Sapthami Gowda, and is set to release in 11 languages on Dussehra 2023.
