Classic TV series Ramayan returns amid Adipurush backlash

Ramanand Sagar's iconic television series, Ramayan, is set to make a comeback on the small screen. With the recent backlash surrounding the film Adipurush, which offers a new interpretation of the Ramayana, viewers have shown renewed interest in the 40-year-old TV show.

Shemaroo TV has announced that Ramayan will start airing again from July 3 on their channel. The beloved mythological show originally aired in the 1980s and featured Arun Govil as Ram, Dipika Chikhlia as Sita, and Sunil Lahiri as Lakshman. Fans of the show will now have the opportunity to relive the epic tale through its television rerun.

The timing of the announcement is noteworthy, as Adipurush has faced significant criticism for its alleged misrepresentation of the lead characters, including Ram, Sita, Hanuman, and Ravan. The film, directed by Om Raut, stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Devdatta Nage, and Saif Ali Khan in the respective roles.
