Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Prerna Dikshit has decided to devote at least two days to improve the functioning of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital.
So work continues to create a large office for her near the upper chamber of the hospital. Sources said that Dikshit wants to keep a close watch on the work of doctors to para-medical staff and also control the middlemen who operate there.
The government appointed her as the administrator of the hospital in December last year. Tough Master Dikshit took bold initiatives to improve the condition of the hospital, but this put her on the warpath with the doctors.
Despite her efforts, the conditions did not change, leaving people to blame the doctors and medical staff for negligence in their service, which sometimes led to deaths here.Dikhsit said her aim is to provide better facilities to the people who come here.
For this, strict monitoring and strong facilities are needed, she added. "I will ensure the implementation of everything for the benefit of the patients who sit here in my new office on Fridays and Saturdays. But apart from these two days, I can come here any day to sit in the office and visit different departments,” she added.
The 2017 batch young IAS sounds tough and positive when she said she will arrange for a council and a complaint box to be placed outside her office in the hospital. Many were unable to complain out of fear, so this box will help them, she added. "We will open Duobox daily and take action. Dikshit said that she had made it mandatory for the doctors to do 20 days duty at the hospital but 30 of them had failed to do so as well. I stopped their salaries this month," she emphasized.
