In a gesture of empathy and support, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal has taken on the responsibility of providing free education to 50 girls and 50 boys from the families affected by the tragic train accident in Odisha.

The announcement was made during a solemn event held at Netaji Indoor Stadium, where Mamata Banerjee also extended financial assistance to the families of the victims.

During her address, the Chief Minister expressed her deep condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the train accident and pledged to stand by them in their time of need. She announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to be provided to the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident. Additionally, financial assistance will be given to those who were injured, as well as those who have suffered severe physical or mental trauma.

Highlighting the efforts made by the state government, Mamata Banerjee shared that a total of 103 individuals from West Bengal had lost their lives in the train accident, with 86 bodies being recovered so far. To support the affected families, each of the 86 families received job offers, along with the monetary compensation of Rs 5 lakh. Furthermore, an additional sum of Rs 2,000 will be disbursed to them on a monthly basis for the next three months.

Addressing the future prospects of the affected children, the Chief Minister emphasized her commitment to their education. She took personal responsibility for ensuring that 50 girls and 50 boys from the victim families receive free education, providing them with an opportunity to build a brighter future despite the tragic circumstances they have faced.
