Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
In the aftermath of the tragic train accident in Baleshwar, Odisha, where around three hundred lives were lost, the administration has initiated the process of providing financial assistance to the bereaved families. However, a recent controversy has erupted concerning the manner in which the assistance was delivered.
Trinamool, on behalf of the party, dispatched a representative team to provide two lakh rupees each to the families of those killed in the Gosaba train accident in South 24 Parganas. The intentions seemed noble, but the revelation upon opening the envelopes left the families stunned. Instead of regular currency denominations, the envelopes contained numerous two thousand rupee notes.
For families already grappling with the profound grief of losing their loved ones, receiving two thousand rupee notes as financial assistance has further exacerbated their distress. Consequently, a political dispute has ensued regarding the appropriateness of providing this form of compensation to the victims' families.
State Minister Shashi Panja, State Minister Dilip Mandal, Jayanagar Trinamool MP Pratima Mandal, Basanti MLA Shyamal Mandal, and Canning West MLA Parasharam Das visited Basanti to offer Rs 2 lakh to the families affected by the train accident. However, the monetary assistance was disbursed in the form of two thousand rupee notes, leading to discontent and criticism.
